MEET THE MAKER:
Why did you start the brand?
Since a young teen I had a deep desire to work in fashion and one day have my own fashion label. I studied Fashion & Textiles at Uni and had a tropical womenswear collection go down the London Fashion Week catwalk. After a year of unpaid internships I was fast put off by the fashion industry and my lust for adventure took over - I ended up travelling and working overseas, but always in creative roles. I designed a catwalk collection in Sri Lanka working for a design festival and I landed a paid gig in a print studio in Sydney, I also worked in eco-tourism in Fiji and volunteered at the Olympics in Brazil! All these experiences ignited so many ideas for new prints and products, I had a vision for bringing this all to life by creating FUN vibrant surf fashion that is multifunctional, unique and sustainable.
MEET THE MAKER:
What made you take the leap?
After seeing the horrific impact of plastic waste and effects of global warming first-hand in Fiji and the island's coral reefs, I became even more motivated to try create a Womenswear label that could help eliminate this problem, or at least have a sustainable small actIt took me a good decade to finally take this leap and start experimenting with printing some of my tropical textile designs onto stretch fabrics made from recycled ocean plastics. I was so inspired to create unique colourful surf wear with bright feel good prints for me and my friends, that did not cost our planet. Surfwear that we could wear in the sea but also out to parties.... This was where my motto "waves and raves" came from.It wasn't until the pandemic, that I really knuckled down and launched the label and my website. I was actually living my best life in Australia on my second year working holiday visa, hand sewing my swimwear in my bedroom, waitressing on yachts in the daytime and selling my clothes at Bondi market at the weekends. I brought the label home to my childhood coastal village to continue sewing and creating swimwear.
What is it like balancing your yacht job & your business?
Not easy! I began yachting in 2019 when I lived and worked in Australia, to purely make a living and have some fun working on the ocean! I took a very long break from the industry during 2020 where I focused again on Euphoric Threads, but I am a creative- NOT a business women and low and behold I ran out of cash. I went back into yachting in 2021 and landed my first full time position on an exciting expedition vessel in 2022. Funnily enough this position got me back to Australia, which was incredible I got to see all my friends and retrieve two big suitcases of clothes i had left behind.
After travelling the South Pacific and ending my employment in South America, I took some well earnt time out from yachting to travel and work on my label again...
I now continue to freelance on yachts to help me keep the business afloat, (useful for that cash injection !) and I continue to travel to exotic places that influence my next prints and swimwear collections.
It is hard to keep up a business that requires my attention all the time, especially whilst on charter and the nature of the game - when you just want to sleep on your breaks! I admit I do struggle whilst on board but getting into a strict routine and keeping disciplined is key. I am still seeking that dream rotational position so I can juggle this business better.

What would you recommend to other women who are thinking of starting their business whilst onboard?
Just start! Post that instagram post, start a TikTok account, keep talking about your ideas, your passions, your WHY.
I would really recommend putting aside some money and start to save for your business whilst onboard, don't leave yachting without having saved a little pot. I made this mistake, I set up my business BEFORE getting into yacting properly, then I was hooked on the yachty lifestyle and I found it very hard to go back to my business whilst juggling my lust for travel!
